hooray for a new year!
yay for 2012!
i never liked making new year’s resolutions, and whenever people asked, i would simply say “my new year’s resolution is to not make a new year’s resolution”, but also because i was immature and thought i was super clever. so lame.
anyways, last year, i made one new year’s resolution, and it was very practical: to floss everyday, to which i can say, i have not gone a single day without flossing since then. what i learned from this is that new year’s resolutions have to be simple, low in demand, and pretty easy to execute. as a result, i have made these two resolutions for this year.
1. read through the New Testament. i think over the course of a few years, i’ve read through the New Testament before, but i did it pretty meaninglessly, and just sort of read/skimmed for the sake of reading the Bible. this time though, i really want to read it meaningfully and seeking purpose, and as a result, have a better grasp of Scripture, which is something i’ve been meaning to improve. it’s also pretty hard for me to read the Bible consistently, which has taken its toll on my spiritual growth, because its hard to get to know God without reading His Word. i would appreciate it if you helped to keep me accountable with this. ask me what i’m reading, what i’m learning, and how i’m doing with this, please! :)
2. to go along with dental hygiene from last year, brush gently. dental hygiene is really important to me, and turns out, whenever i brush, i brush really harshly, because i always just assumed that i was being more thorough that way. turns out, part of my gum is receding because i’m brushing too hard, and that its irreversible. my only solution is to brush really gently when i brush.
mmmm. i’m excited to see what 2012 has in store :)
hopefully, more baking.
