I visited the BC Career Fair today, as well as the AHANA Reception that preceded the fair. I discovered this company called Uncommon Schools that is a charter school company and they’re just starting out in ROCHESTER, NY, which is AWESOME, because Rochester is a city near and dear to my heart (obviously…) and the RCSD often goes under the radar when it comes to urban/inner city schools that are low performing and desperately needs education reform. 
After watching Waiting for Superman, I’m not so sure how I feel about the charter school system, because in the end, it is hit or miss and it does not provide opportunities for all students who need it due to the lottery system, but it is providing alternative settings for some students, and the schools they set up are high performing and rigorous in expectation. I’m just so happy that they are setting up charters in Rochester :) :) :)
